Our Story

Oka Kitchen is a family-owned Turkish restaurant in Somerset West, bringing the flavours and traditions of Turkey to the Helderberg. Born from Turkish roots and a South African home in Cape Town, Oka was created from a love of good food, family, and bringing people together around the table.

Our menu is inspired by traditional Turkish family recipes, Mediterranean flavours and the simple pleasure of cooking with good ingredients. From Turkish breakfast and fresh meze to wood-fired pide, charcoal-grilled kebabs and comforting signature dishes, our food is made to be shared and enjoyed.

At the heart of our kitchen is our wood-fired oven, adding character and depth to many of our dishes. Alongside the food, we want Oka to feel warm, relaxed and welcoming — a place for breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee, family gatherings or simply a long afternoon around the table.

We are proud to bring a little taste of Turkey to Somerset West, combining Turkish tradition with the warmth of South African hospitality.
